Autel MaxiSYS VCI -- Bluetooth Wireless Vehicle Communication Interface for MaxiSYS Diagnostic Tablets
The Autel MaxiSYS VCI is the Bluetooth wireless Vehicle Communication Interface designed to work with the Autel MaxiSYS diagnostic tablet series. It plugs into the vehicle's OBD-II diagnostic port and communicates wirelessly with the MaxiSYS tablet, giving the tablet its connection to the vehicle's ECU network for full-system diagnostics, live data, bi-directional tests, and service functions. The VCI comes bundled with MaxiSYS tool kits and is also available as a standalone unit for replacement or as a spare for a second vehicle in the shop.
The MaxiSYS VCI is a multi-brand device that works across U.S., Asian, and European vehicles. It handles all standard OBD-II communication protocols and ensures that the tablet can communicate with vehicles' electronic control units reliably and at the speed required for comprehensive multi-system diagnostics. Because it connects wirelessly, the technician can work anywhere around the vehicle -- in the cab, underneath the vehicle, or outside the vehicle during a road test -- without a cable tethering the tablet to the OBD-II port.
Wireless Bluetooth Connection -- Diagnostic Freedom Without a Cable
Traditional wired scan tool connections mean the technician is physically tethered to the vehicle's diagnostic port. When you need to operate the tablet at the driver's seat while checking live data, walk around the vehicle while watching a parameter change, or take the vehicle on a road test while monitoring sensor data, a wired connection becomes a constraint. The MaxiSYS VCI's Bluetooth connection removes that constraint -- connect the VCI to the OBD-II port, walk back to the driver's seat or wherever you need to be, and the data flows wirelessly to the tablet.
- Bluetooth Wireless: Communicates with the MaxiSYS tablet over Bluetooth. Range is sufficient for working anywhere around a standard passenger vehicle or pickup truck
- Wireless During Road Tests: Monitor live data parameters during a road test without anyone riding with a cable plugged into the dash. The technician drives while the tablet (mounted or placed on the seat) captures live data from the VCI at the OBD-II port
- Multi-Bay Use: Because the VCI is wireless and compact, it stays plugged into the vehicle while the tablet moves between vehicles in the shop for other tasks -- retrieve it when you're ready to continue
USB 2.0 Standalone Connection
In addition to Bluetooth operation with the MaxiSYS tablet, the MaxiSYS VCI connects to a standalone Windows PC via USB 2.0 full-speed connection. This USB mode supports direct PC-based diagnostics and can be used with Autel's PC-based diagnostic software or as a general vehicle communication interface when Bluetooth is not the preferred connection method for a specific operation.
Multi-Brand Vehicle Coverage
The MaxiSYS VCI communicates with the ECUs of all OBD-II compliant vehicles. It supports the full range of OBD-II protocols: CAN (ISO 15765), ISO 9141, ISO 14230 (KWP2000), SAE J1850 PWM, and SAE J1850 VPW. This covers all U.S. domestic, Asian, and European makes and models from 1996 forward -- every vehicle that is legally required to support OBD-II under EPA mandates. Manufacturer-specific enhanced diagnostics depend on the software capabilities of the MaxiSYS tablet the VCI is paired with.
Reduced Communication Time
The MaxiSYS VCI was engineered with a focus on minimizing ECU communication latency. Faster module communication means shorter scan times when polling multiple ECUs across a full system scan, more responsive live data refresh rates, and shorter waits during bi-directional test execution. On a vehicle with 20+ modules (common on current-model European and domestic vehicles), the difference between a slow VCI and a well-optimized VCI is measurable in overall diagnostic throughput.
